Hydrogen Artillery Shells

Adds a Hydrogen artillery shell to Factorio: Space Age: a standard Artillery shell armed with a Hydrogen bomb.

The Hydrogen bomb has twice the blast radius and damage of the atomic bomb, and without Quality no vanilla rocket launcher can fire it from a safe distance. Artillery can: with a 224-tile range it delivers the bomb far beyond its ~70-tile blast.

Balance

Atomic artillery shell Hydrogen artillery shell
Recipe Artillery shell + Atomic bomb Artillery shell + Hydrogen bomb
Crafting time 15 s 30 s
Research 1000 units, 5 science packs 1000 units, all 10 science packs of the Hydrogen bomb
Blast radius / damage ~35 tiles / 400 ~70 tiles / 800
  • Technology requires Artillery and Hydrogen bomb, and also Atomic artillery shell when Atomic Artillery Shells is enabled.
  • Stack size 1, weight 1.6 t (Hydrogen bomb + Artillery shell).

⚠️ Artillery can target as close as 32 tiles, but the blast reaches about 70. Never strike closer than 70 tiles to your own buildings, and keep automatic artillery away from nests near your base.

Settings (startup)

  • Hydrogen bombs per shell: 1–10, default 1.
  • Research cost multiplier: 0.01–1000, default 1.0.
