g Train names in addition to train.id

To discern trains having train names (main locomotive.backer_name) in addition to train.id would be nice.
The list could look like this: Train ID, Train Name, Distance

You can use my library to get that functionality. https://github.com/Yousei9/Opteras-Library/wiki/Control-Stage-Functions#get_train_name

I'll look into something like this alongside some functionality to set custom backer names as well (which I think is possible for locomotives) - otherwise the default backer name is just as (in)effective as using Train IDs IMO. (Usually in game everyone just refers to trains by where they stop, rather than reference to the loco name or ID)

There's already mods to set backer_name of any entity supporting this property:
for example: https://mods.factorio.com/mod/Renamer

I've added a toggle in 0.17.1 the mod settings to swap the train IDs for the backer name (default to IDs, since I think IDs are tidier than the default backer names)

Thanks for your mod suggestion, a combination of that with the table displaying the backer name works quite well.

I know this is an old thread but, how difficult would it be to have the backer names,(or renamed train names) be auto-sorted alphabetically? So for instance. If I were to add 3 trains for iron ore early in the game. Then I add several other types, then I want to add more Iron Ore Trains. how can i get them to all be listed together w/o filtering them, like the station names do? Would that even be possible or just too much of a hassle for such a small tweak?
