GZ-DIPLOMACY
A fully featured Oarc-style multiplayer module for GIZMOD. Allows for multiple forces (teams) with their own tech trees, resources, spawn locations, private chat, and personalization settings per-team and per-player. Fully integrated with the GIZMOD modular ecosystem for maximum depth of gameplay and advanced multiplayer interaction.
What is GZ-Diplomacy?
- GZ-Diplomacy is a multiplayer mod based on Oarc that allows players to spawn at their own start location with their own science and tech tree and manage relations with other teams/players across the course of a game. It is designed for long playthroughs where players may come and go, play at their own pace, or vary dramatically in skill level.
How To Play
IF YOU ARE THE GAME HOST:
- You will be prompted to prepare starts immediately upon loading into the game. Rather than generate start locations on demand, the game will pre-set up to 4 start locations that players who later join can choose from. This prevents lag from players leaving and rejoining or restarting to get a better start location. The game will continue to buffer spawn locations for as long as the game goes on, spreading the scanning and preparation load across the rest of the game rather than violently shocking the server if one, two or a handful of people join around the same time.
- While players can join immediately, no one will be able to select a team until 3/4 start locations have been prepared and are ready for inspection/acceptance/rejection by the player.
IF YOU ARE A PLAYER:
- You will be prompted to either join a team or create your own immediately upon joining the game, assuming there are teams available to join and/or start locations available respectively.
- IF YOU START YOUR OWN TEAM:
- You will be prompted to select a color and symbol for your team's flag; after which you will be teleported to the first potential spawn location. You have 60 seconds to scout the area and then decide to keep the spawn location or pass and move on to the next one.
- Once you select a start location, you can invite other players to join, leave your team open, or close your team and play solo.
- You will have your own tech tree, starting resources, and scaled enemies in the surrounding area (an attempt to prevent immediate/early wipes).
- IF YOU JOIN A TEAM:
- You will become a member of the selected or inviting team under that team's current leader
- No other input is needed on your part! Enjoy the game!
Leaving, changing, or kicking people from teams
- Players can leave a team, including their own, and restart the game, join a different team, or simply switch teams mid-game at their discretion.
- Unruly, rude, or annoying players can be kicked from the team by the team leader.
