Writes how many items are in each stack lying on the ground, beside the stack.
Providing the player with new tools or adjusting the game interface, without fundamentally changing gameplay.
Version: 0.1.0
Date: 2026-09-13
Features:
- Every stack of items lying on the ground has how many are in it written beside it, on the bottom right corner of the item, the way the game writes the count on a stack in an inventory
- Numbers appear in alt mode, along with the game's own overlays
- Stacks of one to four are left unnumbered
- Every stack in the world is numbered, not only the ones on screen, so a number is already there when you arrive
- A new stack is numbered on the tick it appears, however it got there
- The number follows the stack as it grows and shrinks, so a pile an inserter is feeding can be read while it fills
- Numbers on the surface somebody is looking at are kept up to date four times a second, and the rest of the world every ten seconds; a planet catches up within a quarter of a second of somebody looking at it
- Remote view counts as looking, so numbering follows the view rather than the character
- Another mod that changes a stack can raise on_ground_stack_count_changed and have the number right on the same tick
- /gsc-rescan reads the whole world again, for stacks the mod never heard about
