ran the test, looks like upgrading a ghost to another ghost won't kick you out natively so that's good, but for an upgrade request it doesn't check if the entity collides with the hidden entity i use to pause the building, therefore without some ugly hacks i cannot make this mod wait for those, and to be clear i currently have no plans to do so, but hey at least in 9/10 cases where you would get kicked out you now don't anymore :)
