Robots correctly use iron pipes for building iron rotatable pipes (elbow, straight, T-pipes.). But, surprisingly, they also use iron pipes for building stone rotatable pipes. Picking such a pipe results in stone pipe (which is by itself correct).
Also, if you press Q (pipette tool) on a rotatable stone pipe, an iron pipe appears in hand.
