Can I add or remove this mod from a save file that is already in progress? Will the mod's functions still work properly?

Adding it in is safe - it will simpy start working from that point onwards.

Removing it is "technically" safe (as in, won't break the save file), but there are some caveats:
- All damage/attack speed bonuses for enemies are removed (since those are tied to hidden technologies, which go away)
- If using Quality mod, Uncommon and above quality nests that are already present will remain, but new ones won't spawn anymore (as in, new nests will only be Common quality)
- Unit pollution cost reduction will remain, as this is a map setting that mod alters in real time to get the cost reduction to work. You'll have to use console command to reset this to normal. Leaving it untouched is fine, as long as you don't mind bigger attacks.
