b [Fixed] Items can spoil into shortcuts/uncraftable items

On vanilla + random mode with seed 596050, the flamethrower spoils into the copper cable shortcut (not the copper cable item), which in turn spoils into a red chest. Also, the lab spoils into the discharge defense remote, which in turn spoils into a gate. I was only able to test the cable shortcut to chest and the lab to discharge remote, and neither of those spoil paths crash the game or anything. Still, I assume it's not desired behavior that one can, among other things, use the shortcut buttons to generate items free from the void.

This is indeed not intended behavior we clearly didn't catch all those edge cases. Thanks for the info!

Happy to help :) It's a super fun mod so far, and there will be a video about it sometime in the next several weeks!

It should be fixed. We don't know how many people have completed runs with this mod, so if you do we would love some feedback!

I liked this mod a lot! I think it's just the right amount and kind of crazy. Low-tier items spoiling into high-tier items helps keep the difficulty down, while still forcing you to abandon most traditional builds and think very outside the box. Half the time I was making oddball products specifically to get a different product that they spoiled into, and I loved making the spoilage mechanic work FOR me. I think a big part of the reason many people dislike spoilage is that it feels like waste, but Random mode on this mod really encourages you to think of it as a legitimate means of production unto itself.

Really my only negative feedback is that I think the default spoilage timer range is probably too generous. I get not going below a ten minute minimum for a Space Age run just to make sure science can actually get off-world, but a ten hour maximum is long enough that you can almost ignore spoilage entirely. I dropped the range from five minutes min to two hours max and I'm very glad I did. Even for Space Age I think a two hour max is probably fine.

Sometime this coming year I plan on doing a maximum Gleba run (Peak Gleba mode with Gleba start), and I'm really looking forward to it! :D

Thanks for the feedback. You're probably right about the timer duration.
I watched the video, it was really fun. It was also good to see that the random mode basically worked as intended for other people as well. It's always a bit difficult to anticipate how other people go about solving problems you present.
