g (Resolved) Incompatibility with Bobs Power Poles

(updated 2 months ago)

Hello Again!

After many , many hours of loading save games and mod testing, I found out that there is an issue with Bobs Power Poles from https://mods.factorio.com/mod/bobpower

When placed, the poles drop their connections, and even if you try to add it with the cable connector tool (alt+c), it does create the connection , but the moment you move your mouse, no sooner, no later, it disappears again.

This is only with bobs, vanilla poles seem to work fine.

Also logic red/green cables are also fine with both vanilla and Bobs poles loaded.

I dont file this under bugs because I am not sure this mod is supposed to support Bob mods.

Recorded in Sandbox with only offical DLCs, Bobs and Grid:

Left side are Vanilla , right are Bobs poles

I just noticed that with Bobs mod on, Vanilla poles have a supply area, when they shouldnt when Grid is loaded (this issue is visible in the gif as well). So the two mods are incompatible in many ways I guess, maybe add it on the incompatibility check when the mod is dowloaded from the portal?

The good news is the mod is working as it should, But yes, the bad news I will need to add compatibility. I did not realize Bob's Power modified electric poles, guess I should have expected it.

EDIT: Deleted this comment, was be a mistake from my side considering the new wiring rules.

Ugh, it has been a while. When Bob's Power is active, the Overhaul should be disabled and only add the Transformator.
In that mode, the wiring rules should be disabled and use vanilla poles. So I need to fix that. Then I will take another look at adding compatibility, I do not recall the particular issue that prevented adding Bob's Power as fully compatible previously.

Thanks for the fast reply, you are awesome as ever in your fast responses

Starting with version 1.11.3, when Bob's Power is active, the Overhaul is deactivated and the mod becomes Transformator Only.
Unfortunately it was bugged and applied pole connection rules when it should not have.
Version 1.15.5 has been uploaded, which should resolve this issue.

Awesome, it will at least save a lot of people of the headache! Though there is an alternative on Bobs side for those that want to use both, you can deactivate Bobs poles from its "power" mod settings, the other items included like boilers seem to work fine with Grid.

Now I need to find which mod of mine re-adds the supply zones in the medium and large poles your removes, gaahh.

No, that is what I meant about the Overhaul is deactivated.
If Bob's Power is active... all rules for connecting and all changes to the electric poles are removed. The poles remain as the base game and Bob's Power defines them. You should then be able to any of Bob's poles. But keep in mind that the Transformator should not be placed in the supply area of the electric poles.

AH yeah I noticed that the supply comes from bobs power, even with the rest of its mods poles deactivated. Pitty .

I will make the change for the Overhaul to be enabled, if Bob's Power new poles and substations startup setting is disabled.

Bob it forces supply areas even to the Vanilla poles though?

No worries, version 1.15.6 has been uploaded.
Please let me know if you find any more issues.

Just loaded the game, but it seems that indeed with your fix, your restrictions are active AND I can use all the bobs power stuff except its poles!

Hopefully this is the last time you hear from me <3 <3
