Creative Mod

by jodli

Based on the old Creative Mode mod created by Y.Petremann, then patched by Pac0master, and also the Test Mode mod created by rk84. By enabling Creative Mode in the game, you can access objects that can generate unlimited items, fluid or energy, or nullify them. Perfect for testing purpose or making initial setup for games. Quick patch for 0.16 until an official release - everything should work now. Quick patch for 0.17 until an official release - if ever...

b Crash on loading Factorio 0.18.36

(updated 4 years ago)

In Factorio 0.18.36, some sound files for flying robots have been removed, so the game will crash on loading. This can be fixed by executing lines 22-32 of prototypes/entity.lua only if the base mod has a version <0.18.35, or by removing those lines entirely.

Very thank you.

Thanks Pi-C, but it would be better to comment out or remove lines 21 through 32 inclusive. If you only eliminate 22-32, you leave an extra bracket and comma.

Wube did a bunch of sound stuff this update. There are 9 more construction robot sounds, and 13 less flying robot sounds. I can't help but think "flying-robot-1-1.ogg" through 1-9 from v0.18.35 are now "construction-robot-11.ogg" through 19 in v0.18.36.

Everyone make sure keep a backup of your saves from v0.18.35 in case you have to revert.

Sorry, I never was good at counting. It's easy for the small numbers, like one, two, five, four, six, but everything above 20 is really hard. :-D

Could well be. I didn't really check the other sounds as I don't have time for playing anyway -- it was really just a quick and dirty hack to get the game to load successfully so I could do some testing on my own mods. :-)

Been there. Anything past fingers and toes...right? Dealing with the big numbers is what computers are for. lol

Gotcha. Lua might allow the extra trailing comma, but an extra closing bracket would be a problem.

Just for a personal "test" fix, I just copied the "flying-robot-5.ogg" back into that folder as sounds 6-9, and the save game also loads fine. If Factorio wants to take files from me, I should be allowed to put them back :)

But you don't put them back! I think it's like with image variations: You provide a list of sounds to choose from, and one is picked at random. With copying flying-robot-5.ogg to the other 4 files, you just make it that this file will be played with a probability of 5:9 (instead 1:5 when the other files are removed). If you really want to restore the old sounds, download an earlier version of Factorio and copy over flying-robot-[6-9].ogg from there. Also, make sure to back up these files so you can easily replace them when you update again in the future. :-)

Hi!
Thanks for the awesome help and the hints with this changed behavior.
I just pushed a new version and it should be fixed in 1.5.1!

Have fun! :)

I know I know :) its just meant to "stop the message and not have to modify files" and then only temporarily. I was going to kill the files again as soon as the mod was fixed up officially, and anyway, I do stuff like that just to see what happens
