Just tested them on Fulgora, and yeah I need to add something to fix it
Tl;dr: Short-term I will probably just add a setting that is off by default that exempts drones from being struck by lightning. But might change it in the future
Long thoughts:
An option is really simple to add so I can have that out rather quickly
Now, the reason for it being off by default is two-fold;
- If I ever update I don't want people's setups to break, so by having it be an option they've opted into drones won't suddenly start being destroyed
- It can be "solved" by doing some circuit logic so that requests and the loading of items are only made after a thunderstorm ends, giving the drones enough time to make it to where they are going. I say "solved" but this would severely limit the range of the drones, which is not what I want
I'm a bit on the fence about equipment grids, but that's because I'm currently working on a deployer that can automatically release new drones. And I'd want the two to play nice together, i.e. new drones somehow also being equipped. (Maybe it's even possible to forgo the equipment grid and just add a shielded drone type, but I haven't checked)
As a variation on them having shields, another option is to just accept that they'll take damage. Instead if they've taken damage they'll stop at specified places to await being repaired, like a depot or some kind of repair structure. But this is only something I'll consider if it won't end up in constant alerts
Another possible solution is to make drones seek shelter before a thunderstorm starts. Like have them head to any nearby mooring or depot and just wait for it to end
