Boo, sad to hear
But potentially some good news for you. I've been working on an update that increases performance. I'm currently testing it, but it might take a few days and I make no promises
One of the reasons it is currently slow is because every drone checks each requester which then searches for a provider. Which was the most naïve solution
The update will make it so requesters can list their requests, and available drones will then pick them up. And the scanning is smeared over frames when the load is too heavy. This also allows drones to queue at moorings, meaning that you won't need to spam them anymore which also help with performance
This said; don't expect it to be lag free if you use a fleet. I'm getting around 3ms time-usage at 200 idling drones with the changes, and I don't see that improving. So if you need the throughput of a train, use a train. If you don't need it to travel too far, bots might be a better option. This mod is not intended to replace vanilla transportation
My use-case has been to build and resupply outposts. Plonk down a mooring, provider chest and roboport, and have the entire thing be constructed while I go and do other things
