Personally I like to use handcrafting for landfill, concrete, and rails, and I'm thinking about adding walls. If you want to disable it you can comment out the table.insert on line 21 of prototypes/recipe/categories.lua by adding "--" to the front of the line. I may consider limiting handcrafting to a few specific recipes, but the underlying issue is with Factorio itself.
