But this is not true. SHIFT-R just does a normal counterrotation of the whole inserter, doesn't change only the pickup rotation.

It was changed not to conflict, but I can't remember what to.

check your controls configuration under both vanilla and modded sections, make sure there are no collisions (two controls using the same button) and that the function you are trying to do is set to something unique.
