Adds three new character classes to the start of the game (with the original Balanced class being a fourth). To encourage different play styles, each has its own advantages and disadvantages, as well as differences in their starting inventories. Later in the tech tree, it will become possible to build more bodies and switch between them freely, which is particularly helpful in Space Age and Space Exploration.
Balanced:
300 health, 11 healing/sec after 8 seconds, 3 gun slots, 80 inventory, 2 crafting speed, 0.15 running speed, 0.5 mining speed, 10 reach
The vanilla character, with a few minor enhancements.
Fighter:
400 health (+33%), 18 healing/sec (+64%) after 3 seconds (-62.5%), 5 gun slots (+67%), 60 inventory (-25%), 1 crafting speed (-50%), 0.2 running speed (+33%), 0.5 mining speed, 8 reach (-20%), +10 robot followers, immune to poison clouds, improved melee attack with extra damage and pushback, starts with Modular Armor and some equipment
A good pick if you expect to be doing a lot of fighting early on. Since this class starts to heal after only 3 seconds, staying in extended fights is a lot easier. Also, the enhanced melee attack is strong enough to allow efficient clearing of entire enemy bases without firing a shot, if you can manage to dodge their return fire. Factory building will become more difficult - even losing 2 range on your reach is significant - but faster movement speed is fantastic in any situation.
Crafter:
200 health (-33%), 6 healing/sec (-55%) after 12 seconds (+50%), 2 gun slots (-33%), 100 inventory (+25%), 3 crafting speed (+50%), 0.12 running speed (-20%), 1 mining speed (+100%), 10 reach, can use smelting and machine crafting recipes
For players who do an especially large amount of on-the-spot crafting. A large inventory and faster crafting compensates for reducing running speed. The additional crafting categories allow you to delay setting up production lines for certain items such as Engine Units which you initially only need a few of, and the faster crafting speed is ideal for producing expensive limited-usage items like personal equipment.
Builder:
200 health (-33%), 6 healing/sec (-55%) after 12 seconds (+50%), 2 gun slots (-33%), 100 inventory (+25%), 1 crafting speed (-50%), 0.15 running speed, 1 mining speed (+100%), 15 reach (+50%), belt immunity
This class is geared toward making your factory easier to build. The extra reach allows you to simply stand and place entities across a good chunk of your screen, and the native belt immunity makes navigating easier right from the start, while saving you an armor equipment slot later on. This class's combat capabilities suffer significantly, but the added reach allows you to place turrets closer to the enemy, and repair them from further away as well.
This mod also includes a second tier of classes which improve on the originals, as well as the Engineer class that combines Builders and Crafters, and the Sapper class that combines Fighters and Builders.
An optional setting enables the ability to freely transfer in and out of a Sandbox controller as well.
