g [Resolved] How to design space platforms?

(updated 3 months ago)

Hi somethingtohide,

I've just tried to make a blueprint for a space platform. But it was impossible to place some items specific for Space Age / platforms. These were

  • space platform foundation
  • space platform hub / space platform starter
  • thruster
  • asteroid collector

Crusher or cargo bay worked fine.

Any idea what's going wrong or I'm doing wrong?

You cannot place the hub - that would create a real platform. The rest are easy to use, but you must first "pave" the floors with the space tiles. You can see how this looks on the info tab of this mod in the first image. Use the tile selector and pick the one for space; then, drag out a very large area of space. The collectors don't need much space, but the thrusters need a ton of space behind them before they can be placed.

Thx for the ultra quick answer and the eye opener 😉. That's the trick I was missing

What about power on space platforms in Blueprint Sandboxes?

On a real space platform (outside of Blueprint Sandboxes) as long as you have a solar panel, the electricity from it will be automatically distributed to any entity on the space platform, without the need for power poles or substations.

However, inside Blueprint Sandboxes, putting a solar panel on a space platform does not automatically distribute electricity to other entities on the space platform, and there's a flashing power plug symbol on both the solar panels and other entities until they are connected with power poles.

Is there any way to distribute power automatically throughout all the entities on a space platform inside a Blueprint Sandbox without the need for power poles?

Yes, in the Sandbox Settings, see the Electricity tab for the control.
