g [Not This Mod] HISHS removes its bots when entering Sandbox with all technologies researched

Odd thing I just noticed. If I go into and out of the sandbox lab, my Speedy Bots from "How It Should Have Started" get deleted.
I'm not sure where the conflict is as I have not isolated it, but I know this used to not be a problem as I've used both mods together in the past.

HISHS gives 100 custom construction bots at the start of the game. They cannot be crafted. So you have to take care to not lose them until you can build regular bots later. But today I noticed going into the lab, that when I got back out my bots were gone. Any ideas why that might be?

It's likely the same general issue as noted here. However, that should only apply if you are only using the experimental Remote View method for Sandboxes. If you aren't using that, then it could be a different issue.

I wasn't using remote view. I simply went into and immediately out of sandbox mode (SHIFT B twice). It immediately deletes the bots right out of my inventory.

Then it is not a duplicate of that other issue, but it will be harder to figure out why. On a new, clean game with only these two mods, I cannot reproduce what you are saying happens. There is nothing this mod directly does that removes your items, although there are potential Factorio quirks and side-effects of the necessary changes that may do odd things.

I don't think that's what's happening here, though. A quick glance at that mod's code reveals that the majority of its code actually focuses on removing its bots from your inventory. The only guess I can offer is that you have "enable all research in labs" turned on, because that mod mostly removes bots at certain research points. Most of how it does that is highly incorrect - whoever wrote that mod does not understand the fundamental concepts and events of the Modding API.

Ahh. In that case, I will do some process of elimination to see if I can reproduce this in different circumstances reliably. I'll get back to you when I know more. Thanks!

[edit] First thing I tried was to just start a fresh game and it definitely happens right away. I thought maybe it was circumstance.
That being the case, it's got to be a combination with some other mods I have installed. I'll run some tests and figure out what the minimum required mods are to make it happen.

[edit2] Hrmm. Well that was unexpected. First thing I tried was only to have this mod and HISHS enabled. No other mods. Fresh game. Open inventory, bots are there. Press SHIFT-B twice and bots are deleted. That's odd since you tried it and that didn't happen. Thoughts?

The only guess I can offer is that you have "enable all research in labs" turned on, because that mod mostly removes bots at certain research points.

You need to check/reset your settings, because you may have personally overridden them from the defaults.
