Black Rubber Belts - Remastered

Reskins vanilla belts in a dark rubbery style. Cosmetic changes only. Now updated for 2.0, with compat options! All credits go to the original mod's author, Deadlock989. I'm merely reuploading and revamping the mod for 2.0. Deadlock989, if you are reading this, please contact me about options regarding the existence of this port/update.

i [Added] Belt glowing option?

Option suggestion/compatibility option: https://mods.factorio.com/mod/Belt_Glow?from=trending

Hello! It's in the works, I'm assessing how to do this with the current belt sprite system the mod has. I'll ping you if it's added

Well this was easier to add than expected, since Deadlock989's code already relied on layers, a simple toggle of draw_as_glow on the expected layers works! It's not super bright, but it's glowy.

I've also added an option to make the belt's colored rails glow instead, independently of glowing arrows, since that was a request on Belt Glow's discussion page. Although I might make the railing glow brighter if needed...
Have fun glowing!

fuck yea!

what do you mean it's not super bright? It's less glowy than the glow mod?
I suppose the glow mod changed a bit the color to make it appear more "glowy", not sure

what do you mean it's not super bright?

Basically, the glow is capped to the arrow/rail sprite's brightness.
I could make the arrows/rails glow more by adding an extra brightened sprite, and using that sprite for light instead, but it'd need more work compared to the current solution.

Just let me know what you think about the current glow of arrows/rails, I believe it's good enough!

Nevermind i just tried, it's perfect https://imgur.com/a/GOhIFkN

even seems to work with the loader mod
Tho (and it's a vanilla problem) the green belt is very jarring to look at almost looks like to flicker but it's an eye/movement problem, the solution for some was to remove arrows and what not... maybe some thicker arrow and more spaced between each other ?

Also what you did making the rails glow too was brilliant!

Glad to hear you like it!

That's my next plan! Integrate Arrowless belt's thick line and thin line sprites as a replacement to arrows, for those who like it.
Although, with the colored railing, you should be able to tell apart belt tiers even with no arrows :)

yea it's more about knowing the direction of the belt flow than the tier for that, all cases the problem for me is the vulcanus belt, you're pumped to get it and then you regret having to stare at it. not just because of the puke green but because of all that motion. Maybe not a line or just a ">" but rather some
"====|> ====|> ====|> ====|> ====|>" a continous line with some indication of the movement flow is less jarring than a smol ">" doing a speedy gonzales in front of your eyes every half a second

turns out multiple spaces concatenate in a single space.... i meant a space around the same lenght as the big arrow between them

I'll see what I can do

I just saw this mod and started thinking "how am I going to decide between this and arrowless belts thin line?"
very happy to hear I won't have to choose :D

Ahh I think I understand what you're asking now: an option for longer arrow plates for turbo-style belts. (like ◼▶ ◼▶ instead of > >)
No problems, I'll see what I can make for 2.2.0 :) I'm gonna try to group this with the line styles from "arrowless belts"
I'll ping this thread when I release it, for now I'm struggling a bit with sprite edits ;-;

Yes exactly, something like probably "2 belts" long with an arrow since it's speedy i don't think it would be too long, plus it's give a distinctive style, the green of that high tier belt is not great anyways.

Now that i think of it, but it would be a stretch maybe, configurable belt colors would be.... the absolute gem.

[...] the green of that high tier belt is not great anyways.

If you have a better color suggestion for Turbo belts, feel free to say it (Hex, RGB, HSV... whatever). I might add it (after some tweaks)

maybe (if that's an option) nothing but being able to paste the color code in the mod settings? Combinations of colors with mods + personal preferences or even color blindness people... that would mean a lot of possibilities.

Or just prepare a swatch of like 12 colors and add a selection list for each kind of belt.

But then you have the problems of mods like aai loaders that use belt parts and the color of the belt in their sprites
