Balanced Waterfill

by Kabinet

Adds a more balanced counterpart to other, popular waterfill mods. Keeps buildings, spidertrons, cliffs, and other entities safe from being destroyed by waterfill, while still letting you use offshore pumps wherever you like. Highly configurable, and fully compatible with several popular mods including Space Exploration and Cargo Ships. Walkable to prevent you from making impenetrable defenses.

i Placeable on landfill? [Resolved]

1 year, 11 months ago

Thanks for making this mod, I found it much more useful than other waterfill mods.

Would it be possible to make it so you can waterfill on landfill? I usually use landfill first on areas with lots of puddles, then add small water pools where needed, but currently you can't waterfill over landfill.

Also, I just noticed a typo in a tooltip in the mod options:

"freinds" instead of "friends". Not a big bug, but might need fixing eventually. :D

Absolutely! I haven't been particularly active lately hence no mod updates, and this late response (Sorry about that, I swear I'm normally faster), but I plan on releasing a fix for that in the next few days, along with a few other random issues I have noticed. Thanks for your interest in my mod! :D

(PS. are you using any other mods? It could help pinpointing the issue with landfill)

No problem! At the moment I'm trying to blueprint-place landfill and remove it where not needed, or move pumps a bit further away to solid ground. It's more of an inconvenience than a real "issue".

So it should work on landfill? I'm using a rather large amount of mods at the moment, so that might be a bit difficult to figure out. The main game changers would be Space Exploration and Krastorio2. Cargo Ships and Beautiful Bridge Railway for Cargoships might be messing with collisions as well.

I've just checked it with just Balanced Waterfill enabled and it does place it on landfill with no problem. I guess I'll just re-enable my mods one by one until I find which one breaks it. I'll get back to you on that. ;)

And it would seem it's Space Exploration's doing - I've enabled only it (and the required dependencies) and I can't place waterfill on landfill anymore.

Space Exploration adds resource-layer to the landfill collision mask in prototypes\phase-3\collision-common.lua on line 14. I've removed resource-layer from the collision mask of the waterfill placing item (in prototypes\waterfill.lua on line 573) and it seems to have solved the problem. I thought this would break the collision with resource fields, but apparently it didn't. Unless you think this might break some other things, I believe it's a working solution. ;)

Thanks! I'll poke around a bit to make sure it doesn't break anything obvious, but so long as it all works, I'll use that fix, and give you a thanks in the patch notes.
