WePlay: Junk Cannon
Everything must go! 💥 The Junk Cannon is an early-game defense that turns your trash into ammo. It's a burner furnace with a cannon bolted on top. Shovel junk into it, and it bakes the junk into shells and fires them at whatever comes too close.
⚠️ Alpha: expect rough edges. Bug reports and balance feedback are very welcome!
Features
- Early-game defense. Unlocked from the very start, so you have protection before you've set up ammo production. Recipe: 8 iron plates, 4 iron gears, 1 stone furnace.
- Eats (almost) anything. Every item from every mod can become ammo: ore, stone, spare belts, old buildings, that one chest of mystery items from your first base...
- Burner powered. It needs fuel (coal, wood, solid fuel, or any chemical fuel) to bake shells.
- Fuel stays fuel. Fuel only ever goes in the burner slot and is not turned into junk shells, so a mixed chest or belt feeds the cannon properly. Want to shoot your fuel too? Turn on Fuel can be used as junk in the startup settings.
- Keeps a stockpile. Stores up to 10 shells, plus one loaded in the cannon. Shells that are already baked still fire after the fuel runs out.
- A glowing furnace window that flickers while it's baking. 🔥
- Mod friendly. Works with items added by other mods, and on Space Age space platforms.
Ideas for feeding it
- 🪨 Tap an ore line. Put an inserter between the cannon and a belt of iron, copper or stone, and the first ores you mine become defense.
- 🗑️ Clean out your junk. Leftover early-game buildings, extra stone, spare intermediates: if you don't need it, shoot it.
- 📦 Mixed chests and belts. Put coal and junk on the same line. The coal fuels the burner and everything else becomes ammo.
- ⚡ Fulgora scrap. Turn scrap overflow into firepower.
Settings
All of these are in Startup settings:
- Shell damage
- Fire cooldown
- Cannon range
- Seconds to bake one shell
- Fuel can be used as junk (off by default)
Good to know
- The input slot holds one item type at a time.
- Item quality is ignored, so a legendary item makes a normal shell. Choose your junk wisely!
