The only difference, aside from the new Speed Booster equipment taking the place of exoskeleton legs in wheeled vehicles, is having more fine-grained control over the grid sizes for each type of vehicle, and preventing incompatible equipment from appearing in certain vehicle types.
Apart from the speed booster equipment replacement, these are both user-facing improvements over the original mod; there are no unnecessary restrictions added.
I'd compare the original mod's approach to that of a blunt hammer, simply slapping on an equipment grid to all vehicles equally without any regard for the end result, while my version's approach was far more refined. If you had actually tried it out, perhaps you would have realized this.
EDIT: Yeah, I suppose he got me.
I was considering implementing a setting to disable the speed booster equipment (which I would argue, has much more value and purpose than is given credit below, but that's besides the point), based on their suggestion, but having a simpler alternative is probably better for everyone involved than attempting to reconfigure the primary purpose of my own mod.
I rescind my previous comments, and apologize if it came off as hostile
