Very interesting, thanks for the report. I'm guessing that you're also using other mods, probably something that adds new underground-belts (and forgets to give them a friendly_map_color)? I've made a small fix that should resolve your problem, please try the new version 1.1.8 and let me know if it works. :)

Yes, I've got several other mods that add belts, assembly machines, etc. I've retried, but now it gives this error: https://imgur.com/X2FVrqC

I'm pretty sure it's a conflict between Advanced Machines and this mod, because it loads fine otherwise

Strange! My mod doesn't do anything but change map_color and friendly_map_color. Maybe that advanced-electric-furnace has a bug? Do you get the error only when Useful Map Colors is enabled? Are you using config.lua to try to recolor it?

Doing a little research, the problem is 100% with Advanced Machines and has nothing to do with Useful Map Colors. You're not the only one getting that error from that mod: https://mods.factorio.com/mod/Advanced_Machines/discussion/5a5f1b0dadcc441024d77404
