Increases turret range, especially at the low end. Gun turret range is now competent in the end game. All turrets still have lower range than biter aggro radius, so turret creep shouldn't be much easier than before. The main purpose of this range increase is to make it possible to save wall tiles by leaving an open wall, and to make perimeter defense less tedious to set up. You will still need a very strong perimeter later when you are getting strong attacks.
The range increase also improves gun turret survivability in the later game, as they will have plenty of time to kill off the spitters before they approach within their own attack range, assuming you have adequate turret power.
