g how to use??

Clearly I'm missing something here. Experienced player (800 hrs) familiar with many other mods, playing mostly vanilla with Rampant right now. But I cannot for the life of me figure out how to load these turret pods with any kind of ammo. There's no mention of the fundamentals in the readme. There are no forum threads explaining the fundamentals. There are no YouTube videos showing how it's done. I've tried a handful of similar mods in hopes that it works like one of them - it doesn't. I've read the Lua source code (professional software engineer here) and found no smoking gun (no pun intended). Can someone please explain the very fundamentals of using this mod? And please - DON'T LEAVE ANYTHING OUT! Assume that I know nothing, because apparently that is the case. I've been trying on and off for weeks now, and it's driving me crazy. For starters I need to know if it only works in certain vehicles, or any vehicles, vanilla vehicles, or power armor, etc. And exactly where the relevant pieces show up in the crafting menu, and what machines are required to do the crafting, or if it can be done by hand. And exactly what type of ammo is acceptable, and exactly where to put it. And exactly what to click on. And whether that red "no ammo" flag over the weapon all the time is actually accurate. It seems to be true since the weapon never fires even when bugs are nearby. And which other mods are actually required, that maybe don't appear in the dependency list? Maybe I'm missing one. Have you tested this with vanilla and no other mods?

Having this in the tank and car is nice. But I actually wanted it for trains and for my power armor. So I'll poke around the source and look for the restriction list there.

no, there is no special restriction there.
Easy to add for locomotive, but... it doesn't have inventory, need some other object with inventory - a wagon or a driver/passenger.
For character armor some additional logics should be implemented, will try to find time for it. There is a gameplay catch about character getting into vehicle - what character's armor behaviour can/should be.

Fantastic!

The cargo wagon with Vehicle Grid mod would be best. It has inventory. That way it works for automated border defense trains, or for trains sent in to claim new territory.

Or, another way is the locomotive taking from the inventory of the connected wagon.
