If you set up the Buffer depot to gather fuel such as Petroleum, and connect the pipes to a Fluid depot, all it does is goes back and forth. Fluid depot > Buffer depot then Buffer depot to Fluid depot. Its an endless loop. Something to look into?

To not loop. I get it, probably Petroleum being transported like that isn't ideal, just thought it wouldn't happen is all.

You can use pump to restrict fluid to flow only in one direction. You can even connect it to circuit network to decide when you want fluid to flow and when not. Also there is mod called "Flow Control" which provides some simple valves that don't use power.

As long as you just connect two tanks with pipe they will try to balance their fluid level, while drones will do a pointless job of trying to fill one of those tanks.

Actually now that I think about your situation my idea with pump doesn't make sence..
But buffer depot should work fine by itself - if you remove fluid depot drones will use buffer depot as if it was fluid depot.

I just started using it for oil and drones from buffer depot pick up oil and bring it to buffer and refinery drones from request depots come and pick fuel from buffer like if it was fluid depot, so it works like that.
