This mod makes train acceleration more realistic and depend on the amount of Cargo. (youtube demo included)

g Locomotive weight - in game options ?

Firstly - great idea, this is what always bugged me in Factorio, trains accelerating near instantly, which also made the train braking research somehow less relevant, short of some optimization pushes. And the fuel usage barely mattered since it felt it takes ages for the train to use it.

Secondly - could locomotive weight be perhaps adjustable in options?
Basically, I originally played Krastorio 2 run (before finding this mod) - in there trains were heavier and train braking research mattered, and it was really fun. As I am venturing into the S&M world now (Exotic Industries), saw your mod and gave it a try, as default EI values were a bit on the too fast/light side. But this is where the problem arises - now trains are waaay too slow, even if I tweak acceleration values etc. Now for normal transport I could maybe live with that (and have full TTD experience) however the major pain is using trains for personal transportation earlyish in the game - where your base starts to be big enough and outposts far enough that you gotta use some transportation, and your hatred of trees and rocks makes the train the only alternative (not having robots up yet to reasonably automate outposts). The transport is so slow, it kinda becomes annoying.
Hence the idea, if one could adjust the weight in game, to be able to lower it as needed vs the default 10x.

EDIT:

Apologies - I should have put the topic as "Ideas & Suggestions" and not "General" ;/

Hmm so I just found the "Rivens Dynamic Train Weight " mod and thought why not Zoidberg:
-RRTA - loco weight 20000 - "issue" like above
-RDTW - loco weight 8000 - pretty decent, maybe could see the 10,000-12,000 range for extra challenge
-RRTA + RDTW - loco weight 80000 - yeah, I might as well walk ;]
