Teleportation_Redux

by Silari

Mid and late-game techs for teleportation devices. Adds beacons which allow teleportation between them, and equipment that allows teleporting within vision range, including radars, using a remote. Both methods require power proportional to the distance traveled. Also includes optional telelogistics technology which transfers items from a Teleprovider chest to a selected Beacon (hit R on the chest to set it). Original by Apriori, updated to 0.17+ by Silari.

g [DONE] Can no longer place a teleporter on a space station

A few months ago, it was possible to place one of your teleporters on a spaceship. Assuming it was properly powered, this allowed an engineer to teleport back into orbit at a moment's notice, assuming they had a teleporter also powered on the gound. Extremely satisfying mechanic; yet in this current playthrough (a few months later, meaning possibly some updates) I can place teleporters in Nauvis just fine, but the teleporter I placed on the spaceship itself sadly does not seem to appear on the teleportation menu.

Is this an option that is now off by default? a tech unlock I'm unaware of? something else?

Thank you.

There have been no changes to Teleportation Redux in 9 months. Cross surface teleporting isn't accounted for at all, it only checks the x and y coordinates when teleporting.

It's possible some update to Space Age changed something, or somethings different about how things are built on space platforms, but as I don't own Space Age I can't test if there's something specific with that mod causing problems. It'd function weird in any case, since you'd be physically on the platform instead of in the hub.

Hello Silari.

I ended up trying to figure out the issue, and to my surprise, the teleporters do indeed work.
with a caveat.
They must be placed BY THE PLAYER, or at most, by the player's personal robots.

The space platforms have an internal entity build system where things are removed form the hub and auto-built in place since there's no robots in space (cannot be used).

It would probably not be a bad idea to mention in the mod's description that Space Age users will need to manually place portals in their platforms to address the issue.

This now enables easy travel between planets and back into orbit. very damn nice!

Looks like there's a different event for when space platforms finish building something: https://lua-api.factorio.com/latest/events.html#on_space_platform_built_entity . I can try adding it to the list of events to watch for in the next version, which should hopefully resolve it. Still won't be able to test it, but should work.
