It deliberately won't let you enter vehicles whilst walking around, but if you enable "enter vehicles" in the settings, then just pressing 'enter' next to a vehicle will allow the entire spidertron to enter it (this can be a bit fiddly, so try a few times if it doesn't work the first time).
