I have done just that and the game asked me to synch the new mod settings and I did but nothing happened. They reverted.

oh yeah I guess you're new to factorio, you should not sync after you change something.

the sync is useful if you play multiple saves at once

hmm, got 1.5k hrs. To my defense, I never played multiplayer so yea in that regard I am new I guess.
