g Ore productivity research

I am playing around on this with a 100x science cost with k2so and 248k Redux so I may be missing something.

I have noticed that ore production is quite low taking 2 chemical plants to make 1 ore per cycle. I was wondering if you could add in a productivity research for sediment or sediment to ore since mining productivity isnt a thing.

Ah, another member of the 100x science crew leaving feedback, welcome :)

It's definitely expected that you're going to be creating lots of chemical plants and assemblers to make ore. The trade-off to not having to go find ore patches is the need to build out infrastructure instead.

As far as productivity goes, I had previously had the idea to make mining productivity apply to the "mining replacement" recipes - ore/stone from sediment, calcite/tungsten from lava, etc. I ended up not doing it, partly because it seemed inconsistent when there's no equivalent effect on recipes like molten iron/copper from lava, but I might change my mind do that after all.

I am only part of the 100x science crew from looking at the other threads and thinking that sounded like fun. It is a bit painful but still fun. It is forcing me to build large for probably the first time ever that wasnt very late game. Gotta love having ~900 spm before any modules.

I can understand that reasoning for not having the productivity research but it would really help in the long run and would make nauvis somewhat competitive with vulc for being the main base location while not overshadowing as you need a couple extra steps to get your molten metals.

If you do this maybe give stone a lesser productivity bonus if any at all as it is already quite powerful.

1.5.0 is now out with the mining productivity change.

It does include stone, because it would be strangely inconsistent without it. It's true that stone is pretty abundant, but honestly mining stone is never really one of the bigger challenges in Factorio, plus if you want to really scale out in this mod you do need quite a lot of landfill.
