Remote Configuration

Allows the player to configure any machine from the map, without allowing item transfer so it maintains the vanilla feel. Allows wire placement and entity settings copy/paste at any distance. Press R to issue a rotation request, right-click to mark for deconstruction. Less cheaty alternative to Far Reach. Similar to Space Exploration's Navigation Satellite, but works entirely within map view.

b Broken when used with "Ridiculous Remote Reach" mod

1 year, 5 months ago

Mod: https://mods.factorio.com/mod/ridiculous-remote-reach

Steps to reproduce:
Install Remote Configuration, install Ridiculous Remote Reach.
Enable "Global Reach" startup setting in RRR. (Similar problems when not using the global reach setting, but if not using that, not much reason to use RRR.)
Do anything that triggers Remote Config (clicking most entities works).
Ridiculous Remote Reach is now broken (Reach bonus not applied, "Cannot reach" error on screen when attempting to deconstruct). Changing any setting for either mods fixes this until using Remote Config again.

This is all when not in map view. Map view works as expected. This happens when the Remote Config GUI is NOT up, even if I've changed the Remote Config GUI permissions to "enable all". Tested on 1.1.76 with all my mods. Tested on 1.1.78 with only those two.

Thanks for the report, but I doubt there’s much that can be done about this. The game only has one way of increasing reach, shared between all mods, so if 2 mods are trying to control it, it doesn’t really work. In addition, these 2 mods seem to have competing ideas about how the game should work - what’s the aim of having them together?

In short:
RRR: For being able to reach anywhere no matter what.
RC: For being able to open a GUI from anywhere.

In long:
RRR was installed as I couldn't find another mod that /actually/ let me reach anywhere. However, RRR isn't able to open a config GUI, so RC was installed after I had installed RRR, so that I can both reach anywhere (RRR) and open a GUI from anywhere (RC). If RC is still using permissions, I'm pretty sure I can just change those values and get rid of RRR, so not a huge problem.
Makes sense that both mods are fighting over the same values, figured Factorio would have caught the conflict, though I've never made a mod, so I don't know how that works.
Thanks for responding. I love your mods.

Did you ever find a solution to this? currently using a long reach mod but it doesn't allow me to configure entities like assemblers etc. Still kinda want the ability to move items as well. Current workaround is copy/paste with an assembler I've built locally, but it's annoying.
