g More Tech oddities.

I found a few other tech things from arsenal that are probably oversights.

A. Stronger explosives 7 does not, unlike stronger explosive 6, improve launcher ammo bonus damage. There does not appear to be any infinite research to improve launcher ammo bonus damage.

B. Light Artillery is not improved by any damage research, including the research that improves normal artillery.

C. Portable fusion reactor mk 2 should probably be called portable fission reactor mk 2, and use the portable fission reactor icon, this is a cosmetic and confusion situation, not a functional problem. The actual fusion reactor from space age is the best power producer, as it should be given the tech requirements.

Regarding 1 and 3: yes, will be fixed.
2: Light artillery shouldn't receive bonuses. It's already too effective and is a candidate for a nerf.

That is a reasonable point, I can understand that. They are quite useful in a wide range of situations for keeping nests away without having to import tungsten. The launcher ammo bonus damage being added by #1 will also improve their damage late-game. Perhaps nerf the fire rate even further? I do not think they over-perform per ammo, but requiring more of them to reach the same fire rate might help contain their usefulness.

Btw, found another oddity.

D. The space age rocket turret is inferior, more expensive, and requires Gleba research, whereas the rampant one has longer range, same fire rate, and is cheaper and easier to research.

However...the rampant rocket turret is not actually overpowered in rampant, in my opinion. I would suggest actually upgrading the space age rocket turret in this case, upgrading it's range especially to be perhaps around 70-80. This would give it a niche as a very long range weapon, especially useful for feeding demolishers and engaging in early strikes. (An appropraite minimum range of perhaps 35 would make them require a lot of close-in protection.) Perhaps an even lower fire rate, as well. This would place it in a unique position versus the other rocket turrets added by rampant, as well as making it a very useful part of defenses, making Gleba even more tempting.

Found another oddity:

E. The rapid cannon turret does not receive damage bonuses from cannon turret damage research, this makes the rapid cannon turret strictly inferior.

Honestly...with the existence of the railgun, I'm not sure the rapid cannon turret actually needs to exist, to be fair. Perhaps just increase the cost of the normal cannon turret and give it a bit more range and minimum range, while leaving it's DPS the same?

As for the standard rocket turret, its range will only hurt it—it'll start firing at side asteroids that don't pose a threat to the platform. Let it stay as is.

This is true, extending the range will do exactly that, but currently there is never a reason to use the vanilla rocket turret on space platforms. The rapid rocket turret from rampant is better in every way. Slightly higher range (+6) but it fires much faster, allowing you to use one of those turrets instead of multiple vanilla rocket turrets. Oddly enough the limited fire arc means the rapid rocket turret actually clears a narrower lane than the vanilla rocket turret, despite having longer range. It is also 2x2 instead of 3x3, with 400 hp as opposed to 1800. It also has resistances, meaning it is not nearly as vulnerable to damage, staying active for a lot longer.

As for cost...it's a bit of a wash, rapid rocket wants biter eggs, which are unlocked on Gleba, vanilla rocket turret wants carbon fiber, also from Gleba. It's honestly just not something that has a reason to exist currently.

Sorry, I spent probably a little too much time setting up comparisons between rampant and vanilla weapons.

I just put together the changes into a quick mod, if you decide to pass on changing vanilla weapons would you have any objections if I released something that did, making explicit mention that it is designed to alter vanilla weapons to be more competitive with rampant arsenal. It only modifies vanilla assets, but I didn't want to mention Rampant in the description without hearing your opinion.
