Personal Laser Defense Rebalance / Debuff deprecated


Personal laser defense is now affected by laser turret upgrades. Compared to vanilla it starts off a lot weaker but becomes stronger with research.

I think the vanilla personal laser are way overpowered. So I made it make more sense in my opinion.

Personal laser defense is now affected by laser turret upgrades. Now starts at 10 damage (vanilla 75), but increases as you research laser turret damage. RoF is unchanged but keep in mind that now gets upgraded with research too.

This sounds like a big initial downgrade in power and it is. My reasoning is as follows:

The regular laser turret only starts at 20 damage and uses 800 kJ per shot. How would a smaller mobile version strapped to your back do more damage for 1/4th the energy consumption (200 kJ)?

Since it only consumes 1/4th the power of a turret it should do only 1/4th the damage of a turret right?

I think turrets in this game are intended to do more damage than your character. Normal ammo-consuming gun turrets are stronger than your SMG. Your SMG only benefits from bullet research, but turrets benefit from bullet and turret research. Plus it makes logical sense. A heavy static emplacement should be more powerful than the small lightweight version you carry with you.
