No worries, glad that it has been helpful to others as well - probably one of those mods that really made the cars usable for me, especially with mods that extend their speed :)

I generally think it's better to preserve the existing license for compatibility purposes (should the original mod get resurrected perhaps) - plus my changes were really trivial.

There is a Github project now set-up for the mod, so should you find any bugs, let me know - and PR's are welcome.

Joining the cheers, I love this functionality!
I always liked going around in a car to build and fix things. It feels more like being a real engineer. But the vanilla way of driving quickly spoiled the fun. One may as well use a construction train, but they are a lot less flexible - can never leave rails, no sharp rail turns. After downloading the assist, I set up some road connections between my production centres and outer walls, and it even looks natural.

It's amazing how Factorio manages to be such a wonderful building kit. Take your most-loved blocks and play your own little game in the game. As of this mod, I'm now contemplating setting up racing tracks like slot cars :D
