I could be blind, but the mod_gui doesn't have a icon_button_style.
SE uses "slot_button", mod_gui.button_style is still "mod_gui_button" (At least in 1.1.2, but i don't think there have been any changes)
So technically my version is still in line with 1.1 changes, but i get that it looks odd when the majority has a dark background.
Also Factorio's clickable buttons are mostly with a light gray background. If i can't come up with a proper solution, I'll add a command to toggle the style in the next version.
