When trying to use quality drones in a depot they won't go into the slot.

That's because you need to choose the correct quality recipe that matches the drones.

At first I thought having the better quality recipe gave better ores but sadly it doesn't.

Yes, it's possible to put quality mining drones into depots. But it doesn't effect anything, the code that controls mining process works the same regardless of drones quality.

Hey, the latest MD2R version 2.3.0 finally supports Quality! With higher-quality depots & drones, you can mine directly higher quality ores of the same or lower tier, with diminishing yields according to the quality tier. Also, last mod versions contain some other bug fixes and UI improvements.

Is there any way to increase the quality yield in the new version?

@Napu yep, either 1. via researching higher mining productivity, or 2. directly via "Quality ore yield" mod's setting, but I consider the default value of 10% to be fair enough.
