Factorio is still at game version 1.1, and the mod is currently up to date. I am using it right now, in fact! It works great! Let me know if it is not working correctly for you.
Had the same issue. Fixed it by changing the prerequesite for the technology research from "turret" to "gun-turret".
then had to also do a little edit to the icon path as well
