Wires as items

by Natha

The solution for all who don't like the idea of infinite circuit wires. Make them actual items that do not appear out of nowhere! This mod was created back in the days when circuit wires had to be crafted from resources, but disappeared when rewiring.

b [Fixed] Crash when placing belts(sic!)

The mod Wires for real (1.1.35) caused a non-recoverable error.
Please report this error to the mod author.

Error while running event GetWiresBack::on_built_entity (ID 6)
GetWiresBack/control.lua:474: attempt to index field '?' (a nil value)
stack traceback:
GetWiresBack/control.lua:474: in function <GetWiresBack/control.lua:462>

interestingly enough, the situation that triggers reproducably that bug doesn't even involve wires at all: I'm running a game with several mods, including a most of Bob's. I try to introduce a lane balancer (pasting a blueprint, and manually contructing afterwards) in my first basic belt line and I when I try to replace/reorientate a belt piece running from west to east with one coming from the splitter to the south this happens

Could you send me a savegame with a minimum of mods? In vanilla, I couldn't reproduce this

First of all, sorry for the delay

Sure, I've compilied that and saved it under https://1drv.ms/f/c/9442ce3614b0cbe0/IgAb4d7ZCuQVRrclZzXFgvg5AbwHchhj5VwRee-gqP6YSvA?e=cOyPzv

I was able to reproduce with minimal efforts in both vanilla + your mod, as well as Bob's logistics (plus a library mod) plus your mod: new game, enabled cheat mode, unlocked all research in the console, placed down a belt line with maybe 10 to 15 tier 1 belts in each of the setups, placed down 2 power poles connecting each other and crossing the belt line, then stamping down a lane balancer blueprint, and (re)placing the one belt element after the ingres splitter going 'down'. You'll also find pictures in the folder indicating the position. Both saves should be just in the state where you can place that belt element and trigger the bug:
1. Press q on a belt
2. hover on the belt element indicated in the screenshots
3. place down with normal placement

Not sure whether the power poles are necessary though.

Oh, just to be sure, in the vanilla save, I've included the blueprint for the vanilla tier one belt. The one for Bob's basic transport belt is basically the same, and was most likely created by downgrading belts with an blueprint upgrader

Thanks a lot, I'll fix it in the next release
