By making it Straight pipe, it will more aesthetically pleasing and still keep functionality,it might seems to be nerfed(because it cannot be put anywhere you want),please considering this:

if you dont play with fluid control,
you will have to use underground pipe to prevent fluid mixing and it require 2 space minimun(one for down and one for up),
this change will fill the gap to provide 1 space straight pipe.

I see your point. I would not remove the cross pipe version, however I can add another, rotatable straight version, that would indeed look nicer in certain cases.

I too would like to a straight pipe. The only reason I don't use this mod is because the cross-pipe interferes with my builds.
