This mod was designed to be part of my Space Age Overhaul mod, but can be played separately without issue.
Beacons now affect a large (7x7) area and have 8 modules slots, but the diffusion effect do not stack, and even negatively affect machines affected by 2+ beacons (“interferences”). They also consume significantly more power and are more expensive to build.
Breaks the default “beacon arrays” designs resulting from vanilla balance, and will favor tight direct insertion designs to get as many machines as you can within the central beacon.
Balance-wise, the effect is roughly equivalent to having ~3-4 vanilla beacons affecting each machine. Its less powerful than a fully beaconed array, but a much larger part of your footprint can now be dedicated to actual production.
