i thank you for the smallest item with the biggest usefullness

when building logic setups, i often had to use intermediate poles to connect parts of the circuitry. i also built poles quite often to mouseover them and see the status of signals. and always i had to remove the copper wires to make it less ugly, and always the wires went "up and down" since the poles were higher than the connection points.

THANK YOU for this mod which removes all these little annoyances !

at first i was a bit confused about the copper wiring which was shown while placing the connection boxes, but it's probably difficult or impossible to not show those wires, and most of all we need these displayed wires to be able to see allowed max distances while placing the boxes.

i need to use the connection boxes for a bit longer to see whether they are "good enough" or whether i might wish to get a larger reach for them (eg like substations or big poles). but on the other hand, i hope that the mod has migration scripts to automatically convert these boxes to medium poles when the mod is removed (which would be most useful for creating blueprints that everybody can use even in vanilla)

Yes, it looks like that's impossible to hide copper wires on pre-placed entities. Now [0.16.36] is impossible to convert some entities on mod removement, see this forum thread: https://forums.factorio.com/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=59402
Please add suggestion or your opinion to force this situation.

comment added at https://forums.factorio.com/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=59402#p358029 :-)

in the meantime, maybe mod authors could invent some "standard" like two mod settings "convert to vanilla" (to prepare before intentional mod removal) and/or "disable mod" (converting and then disabling the mod's main loop).

anyway, if such conversion is currently not possible anyway, there is no more reason to keep the connection boxes compatible with the small reach of power poles and i would suggest to increase their range (at least for logistic wires) to substation range (or 16, half a chunk) or even to bigpole range (or 32, an entire chunk). of course, that would have to be somewhat balanced so that these boxes are not misused for excessive longrange power poles replacements.

You can use lamps to connect distant circuits: they have farther reach, they're tiny, no copper wires, and... they're vanilla.
