Clear Skies of Peace - Toggle Fog of War

by Qon

A shortcut button and a hotkey (default F7) for toggling Fog of War. Now you can actually place blueprints anywhere on the map view without them being cut off and requiring multiple placements. Like having radars everywhere at no cost. Simple toggle so you can disable it anytime you are not placing blueprints on map in case you want to use radars primarily.

Factorio v0.18.37 added blueprint building from zoomed out map view. Except there's a small issue: You can't place ghosts in Fog of War (not activly scanned and lit up chunks), so all big blueprints that are placed need to be placed multiple times since they are pretty much guaranteed to be cut off with the tiny range of the radar.

This mod fixes it by giving you a shortcut button and hotkey (default F7) to toggle FoW for you force. And when you are done placing blueprints you can just toggle it again so that you still have a use for radars if you want to play with those.

No technology to research, no power requirements, no material costs. Just click it and FoW is gone while the toggle button is on.
Optionally you can set a requirement for enabling it: Start, Construction robotics researched, Rocket Launched or Satellite launched.

Setting for which chunks to reveal:

  • Discovered chunks (default). Only updates parts of the map for each force that the individual force has seen before. Useful if you have a PvP game and don't want all forces to see all chunks and also useful in singleplayer to not accidentally make the radar useless because all undiscovered chunks becomes discovered.
  • Generated chunks (better performance). Can add new parts to your map, good for creative mode maps. Shows all chunks to all forces that have CSOP enabled. Ignores which or if any force has discovered the chunks.
