Bot Servicing

by Mylon

Robots occasionally break and need to be serviced. Adds maintenance and attrition to bot use.

g Looks interesting.

I am always interested in adding a little more complexity even on the small details. I'm interested in what will happen if the bot gets destroyed over a building/water (I see you mentioned the latter in your code). I plan to play around and see what happens but it looks like an interesting idea

Nothing special happens in either case. The bot will drop to the ground and can be picked up just fine.

Bots shouldn't be able to deactivate over water currently. I may look into changing where bots turn off later.

This solution of servicing bots IS best imho conclusion for last FFF where bots presented as overpowered. Hope devs look onto your mod.
Thank you! Keep develop!

Does it work with bots added by mods, like Bob's improved logistic bots and Angels' logistic ones?

Yes.

I tried it. Nice idea, but it makes personal construction bots horrible, especially for jobs like laying concrete. For general logistics stuff bots are still very powerful; once automated servicing is set up the impact of this mod is less noticeable — except for one thing, when a broken bot falls on a belt, it doesn't get collected and can jam up the factory.

I reduced the break chance for construction bots as well as preventing bots from spawning on top of belts.

Also you can make bots require spare parts even in normal mode if you so choose.
