Big Beam Energy

by Khab0

A personal companion drone that hovers at your shoulder and builds, deconstructs, upgrades, repairs and lays landfill with one continuous beam of light. Slot a Bot Ray into your armor or any vehicle grid, point yourself at a blueprint, and watch the factory rise.

Big Beam Energy

A little drone hovers at your shoulder, points a big beam energy, and births your factory into existence.

Big Beam Energy gives you a personal construction beam. Drop a Bot Ray into any equipment grid (your armor, a car, a spidertron) and a single drone lifts off to orbit you. It builds up or tears down whatever you have marked.
There is no roboport to place, no constructions bots (my beloved) to manage, and no logistics network to babysit. Just you, a companion, and a beam beam energy.

It started as a love letter to two things: upreme Commander ACU's build beam, and the cozy feeling of Klonan's old Companion Drones and Construction Drones.

What it does

  • Builds ghosts, clears entities, trees, rocks and tiles, runs the upgrade planner, and repairs, all from one continuous beam that glows green while building and red while tearing down.
  • Lays landfill by itself under anything you place on water
  • Uses the same construction range overlay you already know, and that range grows as you add more Bot Rays.
  • Works in any equipment grid: armor, cars, spidertrons, modded vehicles. Every host gets its own drone.
  • Unlocks from a cheap early red science technology, and new games start you already carrying one.
  • Rides along through Space Age rocket trips and planet drops without a fuss.

How to use it

  1. Research Big Beam Energy (early, 100 red science).
  2. Craft a Bot Ray and slot it into any equipment grid. New games hand you modular armor with one already installed.
  3. Mark some ghosts, deconstruction, upgrades or repairs, and let the beam sweep.
