Tired of the vanilla pumpjack being the only option for your entire playthrough? Better Oil Production adds three new pumpjack tiers and — with Space Age — a full space-based oil synthesis chain so you can source crude oil even when you've left the planet behind.
New Pumpjacks
Better Pumpjack Mk2 — double the output of the vanilla pumpjack. A straightforward upgrade for mid-game oil expansion.
Better Pumpjack Mk3 — four times the extraction rate. For when your oil demands outpace everything else.
Eco-Friendly Pumpjack — extracts at normal speed but with dramatically reduced resource depletion. Keep your oil fields alive indefinitely instead of watching them run dry.
All three machines are fast-replaceable with each other, so upgrading your existing fields is painless.
Space Age: Oil from Asteroids
Running out of oil patches on Nauvis? Ship the problem to space.
Crushing carbonic asteroids now has a chance to drop hydrocarbon chunks alongside the normal carbon yield. Feed those chunks — along with water — into the new Hydrocarbon Synthesizer on your space platform to produce synthetic crude: a solid, rocketable item.
Fly it back to the planet, drop it in a chemical plant, and heat it. Out comes 500 crude oil per unit. No extra ingredients needed on the planet side.
The Hydrocarbon Synthesizer supports productivity and speed modules, so it scales well with late-game infrastructure.
