Better Energy Production

Better Energy Production introduces various buildings and items to the game. Explore new ways of creating sustainable energy and keeping your world as clean as possible. Start right at the beginning of your world with three options of creating pollution free and clean power. Later research more technologies to expand your possibilities of getting clean power through a variety of wind turbines, solar panels and more!

i What should be in the mod? Let me know

Hey guys,
if you have some ideas/whishes about what new features/buildings/items should be in the mod, please let me know by commenting here or posting it in discord server.

Is it possible to add "Concentrated Solar Power" (CSP)? A CSP plant uses a set of concentric mirrors to concentrate solar light+heat to a central tower, directly or indirectly turning water to steam to drive turbines.

CSP in real life (1) generates more power per area used (compared to PV Cells), but (2) requires much larger area, (3) also, requires water supply, and (4) can actually store power for up to 16 hours (doing away with accumulators).

For implementation, probably split into 2 parts:

(1) CSP Reflectors -- probably 3x3 constructs (mirrors). Each reflector unit adds a certain number of energy. We can use existing Solar Panels but change the color to silvery, and make them rotatable to face the Central Tower.
(2) CSP Central Tower -- probably 3x3 construct, need water supply, generates power/energy proportional to the number of reflector units around it (say, within a 9x9 area similar to how beacon works. Or maybe make it bigger like 15x15 if possible)
(2a) We can also make 2 tiers of CSP Central Tower. Tier 1 has 9x9 collection area, Tier 2 has 15x15 collection area (+ higher water consumption)

We can ignore the "turbine" part of IRL CSP plants; just handwave it as "internal in the Central Tower", and reflect it in the cost to build the Central Tower.

Hey,
thanks for the nice idea! I researched a bit about the CPS and made me a own sketch about how I would do a project like this.
I saw a video called "Concentrated Solar Power Plant with energy storage system" and the idea behind the whole CPS was quite good so I
supplemented and edited the whole system a bit.
Here is how I would do it:
(1):
A strong solar panel:
--A device which runs with normal water & only works on daytime(like a solar panel)
--Has a intern storage for water(small one)
--Uses the sunlight to heat the water up
=> Heat + water==Heated water; The result will be heated water

(2):
The heated water will run down a pipe either to a storage tank or to a converter.
The converter will do the following things:
--Uses the heated water to exchange it to steam & water
So the input will be heated water and as an result you will become water and steam.
The converter will have 2 outcome points(1 & 2)
1--water: The heated water got cooled down to normal temprature and is now again normal water, you can connect it to
the system or use it somewhere else.
2--steam: The heated water will also be converted to steam which you can later use to generate power, you can connect
it to some storage tank, steam turbines or use it somewhere else.

(3):
The steam will be inserted into a steam turbine and generates power.

This is just an idea and it is not finalized. Your originally idea was very good too but for me too difficult to implement.
My main problem currently is that I can't make models for my building/items etc. because I don't know how to do :). So this part would take a bit.
I hope this idea is good and if you have any questions or suggestions for improvement let me know :) I will post in my Discord server
a sketch of this idea which you can check it out when you have problems understanding my text.
Or see the sketch HERE

Yellow marked words(<- like this one) are NOT final names for any buildings, items etc..

Awesome! I'm okay with your concepts. I just love CSPs and to have them available in the game is just chef's kiss

Wishing you luck for the models!

Thanks!
The first PTB will be released within the next 3 weeks.
I'm pretty busy right now so I'm sorry for the long waiting time.

Takes a bit longer than planned, sorry.

To inform you about the CSP solar panel,
the textures you will see in the first released version will not be the final one.
I didn't have time to make my own to I experimented a bit.
I would say I'm to 90% done with the Update.

Hi, love your mod. Unless I'm missing something, the Big Solar does 455kW in 5x5 (25) tiles, the Advanced does 185 in 3x3 (9) tiles. This means the "worse" green panels make 20.5 per tile, and the "better" big solar makes only 18.2 per tile.

I think the Big solar should make at least 25 per tile - 625kWish. If my math is right, they just don't make sense as an upgrade path in the current version.

Hey,
first off all thanks for the positive feedback. Thanks for letting me know that the power production of the solar panels is unbalanced,
I will increase the power production from the Big solar panel to 650kw!
The update with these changes will be released today.

If you find any other unbalanced things or bugs in my mod feel free to write me here or on discord.

Have fun playing!
