You mean like that? It looks sparse because the ore amount is 100. In the unmodded game, that's a very low value. Now that you've pointed it out, I agree that maybe it should look more full! If I fix this, it will become a per-player visual setting.

That said, I don't plan on fixing this. Please let me know if this issue is somehow more than aesthetic, and I will have another look at it!
