Vesta already lets you pull nutrients out of thin air — its algae eat carbon dioxide and there is
no shortage of that on a gas giant. But plain nutrients spoil, which sits oddly on a planet whose
own algae grow nutrient clumps that keep forever.
So this mod adds the recipe that felt missing: a biochamber recipe that feeds carbon dioxide
straight to the algae and grows algae nutrient clumps instead. A nutrient source that doesn't
expire, made from a resource the planet has infinite amounts of.
What it adds
- One recipe: Algae nutrient clumps from carbon dioxide, biochamber only.
- Unlocked by the same technology that unlocks Vesta's own nutrients from carbon dioxide, so it
turns up right next to it in the tech tree. - Same surface conditions as the original: Vesta's gaseous atmosphere.
Stays balanced by itself
Nothing is hardcoded. At load time the recipe clones Vesta's nutrients-from-co2 and copies its
ingredients, crafting time and surface conditions, then scales the output by comparing the fuel
value of nutrients against that of an algae nutrient clump.
So it converts exactly as much CO2 into exactly as much food energy as the original recipe does.
If Skewer rebalances Vesta, this recipe follows along on the next load instead of quietly becoming
overpowered. If the source recipe ever disappears, the mod logs a message and does nothing rather
than breaking your save.
Requirements
Requires Vesta and Space Age.
