Tungsten Rain — Orbital Kinetic Bombardment

by fess932

100 kg tungsten rods circling the planet at 0.01c (107 kt each). No warhead, no radiation — the explosive is velocity. Build a storage ring in orbit and rain them on biter nests.

g to create the hub

(updated a day ago)

Hello
When I put the "deflector station" in the rocket, I can't launch it into orbit, and even with the automatic option checked, the rocket doesn't take off.
Therefore, I can't create the station hub.
I've disabled the only mod I have that uses satellites, "Power Satellite," but that doesn't change anything.
It's probably a mistake on my end, but I don't know what it is.
Otherwise, great idea, thank you so much!

Edit: Since there was an explanation, I loaded 20 stations into the center of a platform, but I still have no results; they remain inside.
I must really not be very good at this, lol.

Hey — not your fault, the mod just doesn't signal this.

The stations are sitting in the hub because the ring starts PAUSED and won't pull from the hub until you switch it on. Easiest way:

Open the status window — the second button on the shortcut bar ("Storage rings"). Your planet should be listed there with a "Resume" button. Click it. That's it — the parked platform's hub will start feeding the ring at one station per second, and you'll see the count climb in that same window.

Make sure the platform is actually parked in that planet's orbit and it's your force. And the rocket-launch part is vanilla: a rocket only flies when something in orbit requests the item, which you already sorted.

Next update I'll make rings auto-activate on first delivery so nobody hits this. Thanks for the kind words!

Thank you so much! Actually, the shortcut wasn't visible in the bar because it wasn't checked in the list, and therefore wasn't visible.
Thanks for your help, and your mod is great, very effective.
