Tricky Old Nick

This mod adds nickel processing to Nullius. An easily extracted metal, it fills in for more advanced metals when bootstrapping production. It finds ongoing use for its magnetic, heat-tolerant, and chemical properties as technology advances. Tricky old Nick makes the early game more challenging. It is recommended for players who like to play with many ores or who want to replay with a fresh challenge at the outset.

g Switch Checkpoint: Mining utilization from iron ore to nickel

The Checkpoint: Mining utilization technology is very annoying since it requires consuming 1.2m iron ore, but you get a lot of your iron with Tricky Old Nick via the crushed nickel recipe which makes crushed iron ore so doesn't count. By the time I got to that checkpoint, I'd made 1.5m iron ingots but only used 900k iron ore. I "solved" the problem by converting iron ore -> ingots in the least efficient way and just putting them in boxes, but it seemed like a waste.

I don't know if the mod can easily change the requirement to nickel, the other options would be to disable the checkpoint (I'm not sure how you get there without using up that kind of resources), or disabling the requirement entirely and updating the dependencies.

Other than that many of us have been enjoying the mod -- it's an optional one for the June/July community map.

Thanks for the suggestion. The code for checkpoints is in the Nullius mod, so I can't change it myself. However, I can request a change in Nullius.
To help me calibrate the checkpoint, could you check how much total nickel ore you used?

I didn't record the exact number. My note in discord said I was at 2x all of the other resources, so I don't know exactly how the checkpoint is calibrated -- that means I was way beyond it. IIRC I was around 4m; which is semi-consistent with some quick estimation: 1m iron ingots via crush nickel -> iron ingot 2 is 5.5M nickel. I had somewhere 1.2-1.5m iron ingots produced at that point because I remember having more ingots than it required in iron ore.

So assuming the checkpoint should be roughly half what I'd used that would be 2m nickel for the checkpoint.
